This Roman Chariot was purchased by me from Saxony's Imports in Downtown Cincinnati before 1973. I'm not sure of the material, but it's solid & extremely heavy. By itself (with no box or packaging) it weighs almost 7 lbs! It has an alabaster finish, which I think was meant to look like old marble. I remember seeing somewhere that this is a material made from marble dust, so that would explain the weight.

It was "antiqued" when I purchased it, with a beautiful patina that makes it look like it was carved from solid marble & has aged over 100's of years. The details are extremely nice (ask to see some photos, as I took a BUNCH!), right down to the musculature on the horses & the Charioteer, as well as their very defined expression. There are also wonderful details in the chariot, harness, & other parts of this piece.

This piece is totally undamaged, & has never suffered any breaks, chips, cracks, or repairs. It also includes the ORIGINAL metal whip (which is removable from the charioteer's hand & therefore easily lost - I've nearly lost it many times over the years), & string reins. These are the ones that came with the piece. Base is inscribed "A. Santini" & also has the original foil "Made in Italy" sticker underneath the base.

Overall size is 9" H by 11 1/2" L by 4 1/2" W; and like I mentioned....HEAVY!! So, if interested, please be prepared for the shipping costs!

I pack everything with great care, so your shipping costs may be a bit higher than you may expect. Plus, USPS will NOT pay insurance replacement or repair costs for a poorly packed item....believe me, I KNOW!!!

I am ONLY selling my beautiful horses because we are struggling to survive, so I am unable to take any trades. I do consider all cash offers on my items, so please don't be afraid to make a fair offer if you see something you want. I don't bite, & the worst that can happen is that I will politely decline.

I ship via USPS ONLY. I prefer USPS or Wal-Mart MO's, & there is 14 business day hold on EVERYTHING except USPS & Wal-mart MO's. Hold applies to cashier's checks & MO's from places I never heard of also. Hold begins when payment is DEPOSITED, not when received; I now have someone helping with deposits & shipments, so shipping times are faster than in the past AS LONG AS PAID WITH A USPS OR WAL-MART MONEY ORDER. So please keep this in mind if paying with ANYTHING else, esp. if you are in a hurry. I will also take personal checks (HOLD APPLIES). There is a $30 fee for bad checks.

I am now able to accept Paypal as long as the BUYER pays all fees charged when using that method of payment. Due to my circumstances, I am unable to absorb those fees myself. IF PAYING WITH PAYPAL PLEASE DO NOT PAY UNTIL I SEND YOU A TOTAL WITH THESE FEES ADDED.

Shipping, insurance, & tracking are to be paid by the buyer, unless item is offered postage paid. Insurance & tracking are optional, but I HIGHLY recommend tracking ESPECIALLY if you do not insure. I cannot refund nor replace items that are lost or damaged by the USPS. I am not responsible for items that are not insured. So, if you can't afford to lose it, then please insure it!

I do not ship out of the USA, & CANNOT DO ANY TRADES. Yes, I do combine shipping, as long as fragile items aren't endangered & the box isn't too big or too heavy for me to handle.
